What it is
Descript is an audio and video editor that works by editing a transcript — delete a word in the text and it disappears from the recording. Podcasters, YouTubers and marketing teams are the core users. The affiliate program is open worldwide and runs on PartnerStack.
The deal
This program moved from a percentage of revenue to a flat fee per sale, so the recurring rate still quoted on third-party directories no longer applies to new referrals. You are paid once, on the customer’s first subscription term, and renewals pay nothing. Only the Creator and Pro plans count — custom-priced packages are excluded — and the buyer must be new to Descript entirely, not just new to the plan they pick. Affiliates who were on the old recurring deal keep it for existing referrals only, and only for a year. There is an annual earnings ceiling of $100,000, above which you need written permission to continue.
Getting paid
Payouts land in PayPal on a monthly cycle. Descript does not handle the money itself — PartnerStack does, so thresholds and exact timing come from PartnerStack rather than anything Descript publishes. Descript can reverse a commission for refunds, cancellations, duplicate orders or disputed sales.
The rules
Google Ads are off the table completely, not just brand bidding — the help centre says flatly that you cannot run them. You also cannot buy or own domains and keywords containing Descript’s name or product names, or use them in a subdomain or a social handle. Direct linking from ads is banned, as is cookie stuffing, spam email, and any discount, coupon or free-trial offer Descript has not approved in writing. Affiliates get no discount codes to share. Every site and channel you use must be listed in your PartnerStack profile, you must disclose the relationship, and you must be 18 or over. Sub-affiliate networks are permitted, but their compliance is your responsibility.
