What it is
NordVPN is a consumer VPN service from Nord Security, sold on one-month, one-year and two-year subscriptions. It is one of the most heavily marketed VPN brands, and most of its affiliate revenue comes from review sites, YouTube channels and privacy blogs. Registering also opens access to other Nord Security products including NordPass, NordLayer, NordStellar, Coveron and Saily.
The deal
What you earn depends entirely on which plan your referral picks. The short monthly plan pays the highest percentage, but on a very small basket; the long-term plans pay a lower percentage on a much larger upfront payment, which is where the actual money is. Every plan then pays the same share on each renewal, and NordVPN describes this as a lifetime revenue share, so a referral keeps paying out for as long as they stay subscribed.
Two things to weigh. The rates are shares of what the customer actually pays, not fixed bounties, so Nord’s frequent discounting cuts directly into your payout. And the attribution window is short by software standards, so this rewards content that converts on the same visit rather than slow research pieces that people return to weeks later.
Getting paid
NordVPN publishes no payout threshold, payment methods or payment schedule on its affiliate page. The binding affiliate terms sit behind the partner portal at affiliates.nordvpn.com, so you only see them after applying. Figures circulating on affiliate blogs are not confirmed by anything Nord publishes.
The rules
The public page sets no rules on paid search, brand bidding, coupon sites or self-referral. It does confirm you do not need a website or blog, and that a YouTube channel or social account is acceptable. Anything enforceable is in the terms you accept inside the partner portal.
