Kraken

Kraken is a cryptocurrency exchange offering spot, margin and futures trading, plus a debit card, a prop-trading product and an on-chain swap service.

What it is

Kraken is a cryptocurrency exchange offering spot, margin and futures trading, plus a debit card, a prop-trading product and an on-chain swap service. The affiliate program has two separate tracks: an in-house one for individual creators, and an Impact-managed one for media sites, content publishers and networks.

The deal

Kraken publishes a ceiling rather than a rate. The headline share is described as what top creators earn on eligible volume, and the page states outright that structures are negotiated with each partner during onboarding, so no one should assume the top figure applies to them. Only the prop-trading and card rates are fixed and published. Income comes from referrals’ ongoing trading fees across the whole product range rather than a signup bounty, so it tracks how actively your audience trades and falls to nothing in a quiet month. Kraken does not say the arrangement lasts for the life of the customer, and publishes no cookie window at all. Futures work differently in Europe: EU referrals pay a fixed fee per first-time futures trader instead of a revenue share, and only if you register under Kraken’s separately regulated EU entity — Kraken’s own support page quotes two different amounts for that fee in two places, so confirm it before relying on either.

Getting paid

Creators on the in-house track are paid in USDC straight into a Kraken account, monthly by default or on demand once a balance threshold is hit; that threshold is never named. Affiliates on the Impact track take fiat to a bank account on Impact’s calendar, which means earnings surface around the middle of the month after they were generated and the money moves about two weeks after that. Trading revenue updates in the dashboard daily with a few days’ reporting lag.

The rules

Sites and apps need pre-approval. Kraken says it declines private social accounts, inactive sites, irrelevant content, and applications listing a partner type of ‘Offline’ or ‘Other’ with no context. Tracking is fragile and Kraken will not fix it by hand: referrals who block cookies or Google Analytics, including Brave and ad-blocker users, go uncredited, and they must click and sign up on the same device and browser. Futures are not available to affiliates targeting the US or Canada. Promoting futures to EU audiences requires registering under Kraken’s EU entity, which adds real obligations — pre-approval for any paid advertising, mandatory risk warnings, no profit or trading-advice claims, KYC documentation, disclosure of your social handles for monitoring, and quarterly regulatory reporting of your activity and pay.

What isn’t published

Kraken publishes an affiliate page but not the full terms. Anything it doesn’t state — thresholds, payout timing, cookie window — is left blank here rather than guessed, and shows as a dash in comparisons.
